The saga continues and the sites are getting better by the day, more work has been done to the MaxxDirectory. Page rank has gone up again, hits are increasing, all is looking good.

Following a meeting with our business mentor a few things have come to our attention that we need to resolve asap. The both of us took a drive out, got out of the office atmosphere and discussed what is happening and what isn’t happening and have made a few decisions about the roles we play within the business.

We both have distractions that need taking control of, and we both sometimes do tasks that the other one should really be doing. Anyway, we have given ourselves a daily task sheet and will be reporting on the jobs we do and managing our time better.

From Wednesday 8th August we are taking a new outlook, and getting out heads down and start hitting things alot harder.

Since the last blog entry we have been cracking on with the marketing of the MaxxDirectory

We are climbing higher on the search engines by the day, and the page rank has  increased alot recently. We want to crack the search term “modified car parts” and appear on page one of google as we have done on yahoo.

So far this is our google position for: modified car parts , and this is the yahoo position for modified car parts.

Over the next few months we aim to be coming up for searches such as:

bodystyling
body styling

car insurance

interior styling

performance car parts

window tinting

There are other terms too, it would be nice for every category on the directory to come up on page one. One day i’m sure it will.

Last but not least there are more and more banners being placed on modified car sites and other related sites each week, pushing more traffic to the website.

As Olly mentioned, I have been working very hard on the MaxxDirectory recently, after going through various changes and restructures, its finally coming together. More time is being spent on proactive sales and more and more links are being established by the day.

Our aim is to make this the UK’s biggest and most comprehensive website for modified car parts.  Over the past six months the page rank has increased and the hits have doubled. This can only climb higher as we continue with our internet marketing campaign. Its an ongoing job but its definately beginning to work and make an impact.

The software that the directory uses has been upgraded recently and offers a hell of alot more than the previous installation, the searches are more useful and we can integrate more within the site.

We are slowly building up the search terms that help people find the directory. One of which being modified car parts, we are currently on page one of google and yahoo, which in my eyes are the most important and biggest on the internet.  Maxxd.com is also coming up now too.

Now that the server move has been carried out, and all the sites are fully functional again, we should be seeing an increase in traffic.

Hi guys. It has been a VERY busy couple of weeks for me. Ive seen more MYSQL databases and php files than ive seen hot dinners!

Whilst dave has been continuing with our Maxxd Directory expansion plan, i have been slogging away restructuring and moving the maxxd websites. And as i write this, im pretty much done.

The “Myspace” style Modified Car Network, has now been moved to “Maxxd.NET” (kinda makes more sense, right?) and the forum was ripped from it and kept on Maxxd.com - I have also added a few more cool features to the .com site making it more of a car club than anything.

Maxxd.co.uk is gonna remain our homepage for MMS, and the old blog domain (Maxxd.org) is gonna be a portal for all things maxxd.

Its confusing, and some parts have been really hard - but combined with the new host we hope to make the maxxd experience a fast, smooth and fun one for everyone!

If YOU were looking on the internet to buy a set of alloy wheels would you just google that or would you expand the search and type alloy wheels in nottinghamshire

If you were searching the internet for a certain company BUT did not have their web address would you simply type something like prochip systems mansfield. if you just use the company name leaving out where they are based I found that they come up higher CLICK HERE

I typed Maxxd Marketing Solutions into google and it brings up our own site aswell as all the other sites that we are linked on. The higher their page rank the higher they appear (obviously) try THIS ONE

Recently on the MaxxDirectory I put some descriptions into the about us page giving examples of certain search terms which have now been indexed and show up on page one when you type body styling nottinghamshire, body styling leicestershire, body styling derbyshire. As you will see in two of those one of our clients Body & Tuning come up at the top, this is something we did last year and have not changed since, it seems to be staying high.

I won’t go on too much as I am merely doing this for a test to see what happens, I have found more search terms >>>> car interior styling nottinghamshire,car interior styling essex, car interior styling bedfordshire, car interior styling scotland

As the MaxxDirectory grows its page rank will get higher, we are constantly looking at ways at getting it climber quicker for the least amount of money.

I suppose its all about experimenting, as we add categories they get picked up pretty quickly, for example modified car trader

Maxxd.co page rank has been going up for some time now but last week saw its biggest increase, it went from 875,466 to 741,248, which is fantastic. We are working very hard on getting links in that are related to modified cars, thats the key.

Anyways, enough for now….. More to come at a later date…

Yes, we are still in business, and we are still in the same place, I were both shocked today when we realised how long the blog has been left!!! We have been stupidly busy and there have been so many things happening.

Over the past month we have mostly been:

• Attending car shows, selling the magazine (new one)
• Building up the MaxxDirectory - an ongoing job which is taking up alot of time, but its getting there.
• Carrying out alot of online marketing trying to get our page ranks up for all of the Maxxd sites.
• Having meetings with business support groups and putting plans together to help with the development of the business. We now have a lady that is helping with the marketing side and helping us put more structure into what we are doing, always good to get an outside person to overlook the operation.
• Sorting out things for the future of the Car Club, seeking sponsorship, holding meetings with the members and getting more input from them, restructuring the whole club in general and making sure things are more organised for the future.
• Rebuilding the Maxxd image galleries, there are over 25,000 images to sort through and five years of events to sort and publish.
• Building websites for local companies and designing business cards and other promotional materials.
• Chasing money (the worst job EVER), but it has to be done. Our payment terms are changing as from NOW !!!!
• Seeking backing for the next magazine which we are hoping to have sorted in time for Ultimate Street Car or Trax in September.

I think thats about it, nothing amazing has happened just alot of hard work and long hours getting on with things. It feels like things get harder by the day, the work we are doing now is probably the hardest as its all long term development.
There is no need to do a daily blog now so we will probably do one every week.

Today has gone real fast.. Its been a day of decisions and risks. Did I mention that it has gone fast?

We have decided today after alot of thought and head scratching that we are going to take on a member of staff, to help out with the sales for the MaxxDirectory. Initially they will be working two days per week making cold calls promoting and selling the advertising. We think this is a good idea and will help develop the business further, as they will be totally independent and concentrating on one thing and one thing only. SALES !!!

It is something we discussed some time ago but were always a bit worried about things going wrong. However, looking at the bigger picture it kinda can’t go wrong. Going on the sales conversion rates and the number of calls that can be made over two days, a very small number of sales need to be made in order to cover costs. As this person will be doing nothing other than making sales calls it will be easier for them to close sales.

They will have NO distractions and will not become involved in ANYTHING else!!!

How I can see the sales working are as follows: Tuesday - 80 cold calls and information sent via email then on Thursday 80 follow up calls to be made. From 80 leads going on a low conversion rate of 1 in 10 we would expect 8 sales (more is achievable but this is a minimum requirement). With the right person and determination I feel this can be pushed to 1 in 5 which would eventually give us 16 sales per week.

Interviews are taking place next week, we are using a local recruitment company, who are confident that it will all work very well. It will be nice for someone else to take care of the sales and allow myself to concentrate on the front page deals with the larger companies and manufacturers aswell as develop the business further and start looking into other aspects of the future of Maxxd.

Olly’s currently working on the websites and has had alot to do since the new site was launched, its been a little nightmare but has been well worth it. I am still getting used to it, have not really had that much time to mess around with it recently. The new .com site can do so much. Roll on more members and profiles. Lookin good so far !!

We are in the final few days for the magazine, all is hectic, roll on Modified Nationals!

Oh my gosh, how slack are we? We have had a very hectic two weeks rebuilding Maxxd.com. We have decided that instead of having the .com page with forums, event reports and a gallery - then the .info page with event/car features and a gallery, we would put all the information on .info, and have a proper community script installed and configured on .com. This has meant that the users of Maxxd.com are entirely responsible for the content on there. Pictures are uploaded by the users, and all the info on the profiles is filled out by them. Its kind of like myspace but better.

At first a few people frowned upon the change, but i think thats just becasue they are/were unfamiliar with how to use it. Now its been a few days since its been active and people are coming to terms with it now. I can imagine it was a shock to most people, but to be honest its been on the cards for a while.

The beauty of the new site too is you get your own little page. So my page is http://www.Maxxd.com/olstar - its as simple as that! And the user has full control to make that page look like, and contain, whatever they want!

This task has been keeping me and dave busy for the last week and a half. We have also finished websites for two clients and are awaiting the thumbs up from both.
