Day Fifty One - Wednesday 28th February

Day 3 of not having my other laptop, and its really starting to affect the business. I cant do any design work, or web work, as the laptop im on is our server, with lots of files and printers on it.

Today we had a meeting with our new Bank Manager, as we are sick of the way Lloyds TSB are treating us. Everytime we go in and do something a problem seems to develop. We’re sick of not being able to go in and speak to our Business Account Manager face-to-face. We are looking at HSBC for our new bank, and are expected to finalise things with them by the end of the week!

Also, today we were given about 10 years worth of modified car mag’s.

10 years worth of max power, fast car, revs and redline!

Our friend Andy from Body and Tuning gave them to us, he described them as his “Education”. Instead of school he spent his time scouring the pages of the magazines looking for inspiration. Now he’s a very well know body stylist in our hometown of Mansfield. Thanks Binnsey.
Were off now.. more tomorrow..

Day Fifty - Tuesday 27th February

Project - Ze Volf!

As we are aiming our magazine at real car enthusiasts, and people who havent got 10k to throw at a 20k car, we thought we should do a project that shows people that you dont need a endless supply of money to create a project car.

SO i have decided to donate my MK3 golf to Maxxd Marketing Solutions, and use that as our Short Change Show Car!

We are gonna do proper mods, that anyone can achieve on a small budget. Things like wheels, suspension, tints, a subtile bodykit and a bidget ICE package. We can tie this in with the advertising we are doing for people, and get these companies to sponsor the car in return for a sticker in the window or something.

We have been talking about this today, and getting some ideas in place. This should be fun!

Oh, we also thought about a vento front end?

Vento front end?
vento front end anyone?

Day Forty Nine - Monday 26th February

Ahhh, anyone who is self employed will know that getting paid is a touchy subject. The workload here at MMS is flowing like a river, but people always take ages in getting the payment to you.

Today was a good day as we had a few cheques come in, which meant we could both clear a few outstanding debts that we had. Hopefully after only 49 days of trading, Maxxd Marketing Solutions will be able to pay us both fairly well from now on!

The rest of today was sent sifting through photos and uploading them to the internet. We have accumilated so many photos over the space of this weekend, about 500 if not more!

Some Mondays are not really that bad are they!

Day Fourty Eight - Sunday 25th February

Just a quick stop today, to unload some photos from the mornings photoshoot, in preperation for the 2nd half up at stags this afternoon.

Got some amazing pics for the Mag, and some just for the benefit of the Maxxd.com members!

Holla!

Day Forty Seven - Friday 23rd February

Today was the day I was dreading. I was trying my hardest to get my passport sorted so that I could go on the trip with Dave, but it was just too much hard work. So today I helped Dave run about getting things ready for the trip.

We borrowed a camera from Rich Cooper (THANKS DUDE!) and Dave finialised the ticket arrangements and went home to get some sleep! He was being picked up at midnight and was driving to Dover! I put the finishing touches to the new directory template, but now we have some SQL error that I cant get rid of. I have a few friends that are looking into it for us.

Anyway, the weekend has landed! Im off! Photoshoot this sunday! :D

Day Forty Six - Thursday 22nd February

We got into the office this morning and were finally greeted by our new Maxxd Directory template. But after a whole day of trying to resolve a FTP problem, then trying to get it to work. I gave up! I have emailed the guy who has made it for us and he is going to take a look at it tonight.

We have recieved artwork for a client site we are doing, which means that the rest of this week and early next week will be spent soley on that. We also got another web design client when we went to order some more stickers. Its funny how you get work isnt it!

Dave has been preparing some bits and bobs for Paris at the weekend, the lucky bugger! I wish i had sorted my passport a bit sooner!

More calls have been made and letters have been posted out again..

Hometime now, so we’ll see you all tomorrow.

Its friday again tomorrow isnt it? Where does the time go?

Day Forty Five - Wednesday 21st February

As well as carrying on with the sales today we have had a meeting with the editor of the publishing company that is helping us with the magazine. Sorted out the general layout of the magazine and decided exactly whats going in there. The meeting went on for about an hour and shortly afterwards we left with sore heads.

There is so much to take in and so much to get sorted in such a short period of time. Saying that, everything is more or less covered just needs the finishing touch.

Distribution is organised. The first issue will be EXCLUSIVE at Donny Show @ Donington Park. Advertising is going ok, there is alot of interest from companies up and down the country.
The photo shoot is this weekend along with the trip to the Paris Tuning Show. We will have more than enough content and just have the Fast Show to cover in March.

One last thing, we are applying for the HSBC Start up awards, there is £25,000 up for grabs…… That would be nice…

Day Forty Four - Tuesday 20th February

We arrived at the office today and were greeted by some bad news. There is a building over the way and it houses the security guards that look over the car park and secure our building, and it had been broken into. Now normally this wouldnt of been a problem unless they had broken into our building, but as the security guards looked after our building too, there was a chance that the keys to our business centre had been stolen too. Luckily for us, they hadn’t.

Today we have spent most of the day securing, backing up and doing a few things around the office. We finally attached the whiteboard to the wall, we set up 3 webcams in and around the office that upload directly to the internet so even if everything is cleared out of our office by some pikey scum, we’d have their ugly faces saved to use in court.

So this is a word in the ears of any theving scum, dont bother breaking into our office, it would be a very stupid thing to do on your behalf. ;)

Day Forty Three - Monday 19th February

Today we received an order for 1500 flyers and also delivered the repeat order for business cards that was made last week. Everyone is still happy with the service they have received.

The follow up calls have been started today, and is going well, it would be nice to get someone else on the phone concentrating on sales, sales and sales. We really need to step it up a notch and generate more sales as soon as possible.

The magazine side of things are going really well, companies are taking an interest into advertising (they also get a listing on the directory) so they both work in great harmony with one another.

Thats it for today, lets see what tomorrow brings..

Day Fourty Two - Sunday 18th February

Hahah, dont worry. We havent gone completely insane and come in today to do a full days work. We got here this morning and got our cameras ready as we were off to DUBFREEZE.

We are currently just writing a few bits and bobs up, watermarking the images and uploading them. Maxxd is cutting edge with show reports and pictures as dave and myself are daft enough to be here on a sunday when we should be eating our sunday dinners.

More fun on monday. :)
